Name of the Social Innovation: Twitter
Twitter is a social networking application for
Android, iOS and Windows mobile platforms helps in bringing the social
community’s ideas, voices and articles in one place. It also enables its registered
users to send and read short messages called "tweets", but for
unregistered users they only read the posted tweets.
Twitter Inc. was created in March 2006
by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone and Noah
Glass and launched by July 2006. It’s also based in San Francisco and
has more than 25 offices around the world.
In 2013 Twitter was one of the ten most-visited websites, and
it was described as "the SMS of the Internet." As
of May 2015, Twitter has more than 500 million users, out of which more
than 302 million are active users.
