ArtistShare is one of the first crowdfunding platforms. It is founded in the United States in 2000 by Brian Camelio. It is platform for musicians especially for jazz musicians, who want to record new albums. The idea is, that supporter can decide by themselves if they want to have a new album. If enough money is collected, all lenders gain insight in the creative process producing an album. One more idea is a better connection of supporters and artists. All albums were just sold on the internet, to decrease cost of distribution. Because jazz music is not a part of mainstream music, many artists have problems to get deals with labels. For these ArtistShare is a perfect way, to produce new albums without the need of compromises with the label. These compromises often are necessary, to adapt the music to the mainstream flavor, to sell more albums after the production. So in this case, crowdfunding is a good way, to produce albums totally in that way, musicians like.
