Based on Mumbai for pre-primary and primary education.
Established in 1994 Pratham is one of the largest non-governmental organizations in India.Its main idea is to make education accessible to the disadvantaged children by implementing new methods to impart education where the people are grouped by actual levels and needs instead of age. In Pratham it’s not about providing education to the needy ones but to give the education in innovative way so that the children are enthusiastic about learning. They believe on bringing innovations in teaching methodologies and thus they create models which can be implemented in different schools which will encourage all the students to attend the school .
One of the innovative model of their organization is CAMal(Combined Activities for Maximized Learning). The model first identifies the learning levels of children instead of their age or grades and they are divided into grades. The grade.1 children are taught alphabets and number,grade.2 children are to read simple words and calculate simple sums and grade 3.read simple texts and solve arithmetic problem.
