It started with
a wish. In 1997. I wished to get Internet in my village for the first time
after Himanchal High School got four used computers as presents from the
students of a school in Australia. Internet and e-mail were quite new terms
then.

It is a project
that was designed for those people living in rural areas to access internet through the use of Wi-Fi, it has been 12 years already since Nepal wireless is
working in to bringing internet in the rural areas. Their focus is to bring
internet in the rural areas where no commercial internet service providers
would like to go. The ultimate goal is to maximize the benefit of the
technology to the rural population, below is their main
focus;

Tele-education and
tele-training – Online educational content sharing, video conferencing between
teachers and students.

Tele-medicine
– Medical service through online or offline consultation using the Internet and
Intranet.

Communication
– E-mail, Internet Telephony, video conferencing.

Information
share – Webpage, bulletin board, group discussion, research works.
·
E-Business –
Internet banking transaction, remittance services in the rural area etc.
