Project summary
· Main
Project Idea: Research indicates that use of hands-on learning materials in the
classroom has a direct and positive impact on student achievement and future
success in school and in life.
More than 15 million children have families that can’t provide the materials
they need to succeed in school. Schools often don’t have the resources to fill
the gap. The result? Teachers purchase Seventy-five percent of all classroom
supplies. In fact, teachers spend up to $500 of their own money each school
year — totaling $1 billion annually nationwide — purchasing materials for their
classrooms.
Goal is to Connect Teachers with the Resources They Need.
How it works:AdoptAClassroom.org
pairs donors with teachers to provide critical resources and materials to meet
the unique needs of their students. When a classroom receives a donation, funds
are immediately made available to the teacher through an online credit.
Teachers can use those funds to shop online for classroom supplies from a
network of more than 40 vendors on AdoptAClassroom.org; the supplies they
choose are delivered directly to the teacher’s school. Donors receive personal
feedback from the teacher about the impact of their donation, including an
impact report that details how their contributions were used, item-by-item,
dollar-for-dollar.
· Focus
group: Students in primary and secondary level
· Innovative
aspect of the idea: Teacher don’t have to spend from their pocket to teach
student about something he/she wants to through different materials. It opens
the door for teachers to teach student more practically than just showing them
pictures in some text book.
· Project
location: Main office at Minnesota,USA.
· The
project cost: AdoptAClassroom.org is a national nonprofit that receives
operational support from corporate sponsors, individuals who generously donate
to their Annual Fund, and contributions from vendors on our site.

ReplyDeleteThe 'Adopt A Classroom' presents a new perspective to education. Given that the latter is crucial, the necessary school materials should be available to the students. Precisely, the idea of the project is brilliant as it strives to raise funds for the classrooms in need, so that the teachers do not have to spend their salaries for educational materials. With the donations, teachers can purchase the required classroom supplies from a network of vendors.
In addition, the project is very compelling since the teachers send personal feedback to the donors, to inform them about the effects of their donations on the classroom's performances.
In a nutshell, the project is very helpful to many institutions and aims to make the students succeed in their education. Therefore, such a brilliant idea should be well supported and applied to other places in the world where many teachers and students have the same problems.
